A player's star rating always shows his average performance. In this way it is possible to compare the star rating of a player that was substituted to that of a player who plays the entire match.
However, be aware that the longer the player is on the field the more acurate the star rating will be.
A player will only get stars for his last position if he has played 2 positions or changes personal order during a match.
