Season expectations »

At the beginning of each season, your fans will let you know what they expect of the team. Eg ”We will have to fight to stay up” or ”Aim for the title!”.

The expectations for the new season are based mainly on the events of the previous season; what the fans expected then and to what extent their expectations were met.

A newly promoted team will get a soft start in the new league since fan expectations have not yet risen to include victories on the new league level. Whether you are moving up or down in the league system your fans will slowly adapt to the new situation. But if you stay in the same league year after year the fans will tend to hope for just a bit more (irrelevant of league level). It will be harder to meet fan expectations if you win the league every season, without actually promoting.

As the season progresses the current league position will have a bigger influence on fan expectations. So if you are having a poor season the fans will grow accustomed to this and lower their expectations (Season expectations remain the same throughout the season). Not only league position but also points will have an influence. Fans don’t care if it’s a 2nd or 5th place as long as all the teams in between have the same amount of points.

Season expectations are updated immediately after the last league match. If you are playing a qualification match the expectations will be corrected after the match to fit the new situation.
