There is no upper limit to how many coaches a national team can have in the squad.
The national team coach affects the different ratings of the national team depending on his being defensive, offensive or neutral - just like a normal coach. His leadership abilities will also affect how quickly the team spirit deteriorates.
The national team can change coaches anytime it wants to, other than during a match, and it will not affect the squad. Many national coaches change the coach several times before a match to cloud what type of coach the team will have during the match.
